The story begins by following the traditional hero narrative: Tamyth, an orphan in a small agrarian town, lives with his aunt and uncle and hopes to one day avenge his family. He sets out on an adventure with an old, wise mentor and begins to achieve his dreams. But before long the story departs the path that both the hero and the reader expect. Betrayals, deception, and double-standards send Tamyth on a very different adventure, with a strange mix of friends and foes.
